2027 Ford E-Series Cutaway · Southern Oregon

The body is the point of an E-Series Cutaway. Plan it before the chassis.

A cutaway is only half a work vehicle when it leaves Ford. For a shuttle, ambulance, service body, delivery box, or Class C motorhome, the useful order starts with the finished vehicle's weight, dimensions, access, electrical load, and builder requirements.

01 / Models

E-350 or E-450, not one generic chassis

Ford lists single- and dual-rear-wheel E-350 Cutaways plus dual-rear-wheel E-450 choices across several wheelbases.

02 / Powertrain

One known foundation

The 2027 fleet guide lists a 7.3L gas V8 at 325 horsepower and 450 pound-feet, paired with the chassis Ford expects upfitters to finish.

03 / Payload

Body weight spends it first

Published maximum payload varies from 5,100 to 9,690 pounds by configuration, before the body, occupants, equipment, supplies, and cargo take their share.

Begin with the finished vehicle on paper

Write the day the vehicle must perform. A Rogue Valley shuttle has passengers, luggage, entry steps, climate-control demand, and hours of idling. A service body adds compartments, tools, compressor weight, and power needs. An ambulance, school activity bus, or motorhome brings its own standards and a specialized builder. The correct chassis is the one that still has axle and payload capacity after all of that is installed.

Give the body company the route, expected load, inside dimensions, door and step requirements, and the equipment list. Ask for estimated completed curb weight by axle; a total body-weight estimate alone is not enough. Fuel, driver, passengers, water, batteries, generator, hitch equipment, tools, and cargo arrive after the bare chassis calculation. If the worksheet is close before those items are added, the plan is already too tight.

Read the Ford choices as constraints

Ford's 2027 fleet guide lists E-350 Cutaway choices with single or dual rear wheels and 138-, 158-, and 176-inch wheelbases, depending on configuration. E-450 Cutaway choices use dual rear wheels with 158- or 176-inch wheelbases. Maximum GVWR runs from 10,050 pounds on an E-350 single-rear-wheel configuration to 14,500 pounds on E-450. Those endpoints do not tell you axle balance or available capacity on the order you are considering.

The listed 7.3-liter V8 produces 325 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque at 3,750 rpm. Ford also identifies body-specific prep packages, including ambulance, motorhome, shuttle bus, school bus, and multi-function school activity bus applications. A prep package is not paperwork decoration. It may change cooling, electrical, safety, or integration provisions the completed vehicle needs.

  • Get the upfitter's required wheelbase, cab-to-axle space, GVWR, and rear overhang
  • List every electrical load and confirm alternator, battery, and interface requirements
  • Plot body, equipment, passenger, and cargo weight across both axles
  • Confirm the applicable prep package before the order is submitted

Southern Oregon routes affect the specification

A vehicle that spends its day in short Medford stops has different cooling, brake, access, and driver-comfort demands from one running longer grades toward Klamath Falls or Northern California. Winter traction needs, chain clearance, turning space, overnight parking, and service access belong in the same conversation as cubic feet. The body builder should know the actual route before choosing door placement, step height, or rear overhang.

Butler Ford can help with the Ford-side order, but the upfitter remains essential. Ask who holds responsibility for final-stage certification, weight labels, warranty boundaries, and delivery timing. Get the chassis, body, installation, transport, inspection, and registration sequence in writing. A chassis arriving months before its production slot is not a completed work vehicle.

Questions worth settling first

These answers reflect Butler Ford and the current shopping process. Call about the specific vehicle when you need availability or equipment confirmed.

What engine is in the 2027 Ford E-Series Cutaway?

Ford's 2027 fleet guide lists a 7.3-liter V8 rated at 325 horsepower and 450 pound-feet of torque. Confirm the transmission, axle, fuel system, and any prep-package changes on the order.

What is the maximum payload of a 2027 E-Series Cutaway?

Ford publishes maximum payload figures from 5,100 pounds for a listed E-350 SRW configuration to 9,690 pounds for a listed E-450 DRW configuration. Body, passengers, equipment, fluids, and cargo reduce available payload.

Can Butler Ford install the body?

This page does not promise in-house upfit installation. Butler Ford can discuss the chassis order and coordination, while a qualified upfitter should specify, install, and document the completed body.

Is a 2027 E-Series Cutaway shown in the inventory below?

Not necessarily. The inventory block is a broader view of current new Ford work vehicles because Butler's published cache may not contain a cutaway. Confirm model, year, and dealer capability by phone.

Chassis plus body plus timeline

Bring the upfitter into the first call.

Butler Ford can work from the completed-vehicle requirements and help identify the Ford order that supports them. A body-company worksheet is far more useful than a general request for an E-450.
